The fit is a little more generous than our older Freet styles, but you still are likely to need to go a size larger than your ‘normal’ size for other brands
- All our shoes are fully flexible, have a roomy toebox and are zero drop (same height at front and heel) to allow natural movement
- Breathable, durable, water resistant upper made from our advanced hydrophobic micro fibre material – MicroF2. This upper is breathable, durable and water resistant as well as quick drying. Unlike leather which tends to absorb water, our MicroF microfibre sheds water (hydrophobic)

Ruth Smith –
I have been barefoot for a number of years now and have long been a fan of a very famous brand. However, the famous brand boots are NOT waterproof, whatever they say! I live and walk in the NW of England `(our hills and fells are very wet) so I need serious waterproofing and have always sworn by leather boots. Eventually though, various good reviews on social media persuaded me to try Freet. I have Mudees, which I love, but was attracted by the more ‘boot like’ Tundra. I have not been disappointed. Proper boots, proper waterproof, proper comfy and even a tad funky with the addition of rainbow laces! My Freet family is growing – Mudee, Tundra, Kidepo x 2. I love them all dearly. I am so glad I found Freet and can’t imagine life without them. Many thanks to the team at Freet who offer brilliant service. Looking forward to the brown Tundras!

At the risk of repeating a lot of what’s been said already, the Tundras are an excellent upgrade to the Mudees (which I love).
Where the Mudees struggle in, er, mud, the Tundras are four-wheel-drive for your feet. I’d promised myself that once my ‘traditional’ high-collar hiking boots wore out (had ’em for over 20 years…), I’d get myself some Tundras. Whereas the old but still pretty technical boots were solid and waterproof, I felt increasingly like Frankenstein’s monster wearing them. The Tundras by comparison are light, snug yet spacious in the toebox and feel like an extension of my feet, rather than armour plating.
I went for the same size as my Richmonds (yes, a Freet fanboi…) and the sizing was perfect (oddly, a size down from the Mudees). Any initial concerns about being too tight vanished after the first walk, as foot and boot got used to each other over a few km. Waterproofedness and grip are in abundance, and you just kind of forget you’re wearing them and get on with your walk. I still like my Mudees, but for damper English conditions or slightly more challenging terrain, Tundras are brilliant. Bring on the extra colours…

I was looking for a hiking shoes replacement and decided to try Freet after reading few online reviews. I was thinking of Mudee or Kidepo but the soles aren’t as rugged as Tundra. I’m usually size 39 in many of barefoot shoes (My foot is 24.2 cm) but with Freet I had to size up. Size 40 will give me 1 cm extra while size 41 will give me 1.6 cm. I decided to go with size 41 and I’m glad I chose bigger size. It’s roomy for my toes and I don’t find my feet moving around inside the shoes. I’m loving this boots and they are so comfortable right out of the box. They are so light and no break in period needed. They have kept my feet warm and dry so far. Waterproofing has been great. I’ve used them during rain and walking through some puddles. I’ve taken them hiking in wet mud and streams and my feet were dry. Ground feeling is great. It gives me some cushion but still able to feel the ground. I love the fact that the toe box isn’t as tapered as some other brands. I have mountain shaped feet (second toes are longer than the toes). This has been my go to shoes during this winter and I suspect throughout the year!

These are my new “go to” boot! When I first put them on it felt like heaven for my feet. The toe box stays wide around the outside toe in contrast to many barefoot shoes that start tapering in and crushing the small toe. This is a major advantage for those of us trying to develop healthy toe splay. The stack height is near perfect for a wide range of activities. The extra padding around the ankle adds to the overall comfort. I also like the design… simple but well thought out.

Wonderful boot! I live on the West Coast of the US and I ordered my Tundras on a Tuesday Morning and I had them on my front stoop Friday at Noon! What a world we live in, such fast shipping 🙂 I am a US size 8/mens and did “order up” one size to the 42 and I am glad I did, nice roomy toebox and wonderful “moccasin” feel throughout. At the same time the boot can be snugged up for more aggressive hiking or possibly even some climbs. Waterproofing is outstanding, been out in the rain and through wet foliage with no leakage and most importantly they are not hot as are so many waterproof boots. Love the boot, I also have the Bootie and really like this toebox better, the Bottie with the “roll up” kick guard in the front hampers the toebox a bit, these Tundras are so comfortable. Lastly I am nursing an injury in both feet so I ordered the 6 mm insole which I am wearing, nice 🙂 Thanks Freet!

I think these are the best boots I have ever had. I have gradually transitioned over the last few years to barefoot shoes with my last big replacement being a decent pair of hiking boots. Yesterday I put them through their paces going up and down root laden gradients, boggy moors and peaty forests on an all day hike and I’m dead impressed. They are the most comfortable boots I have ever worn due to the roomy toebox really giving me that freedom to flex and the sole gives me just enough ground feel to feel connection without sacrificing on protection. I sunk these repeatedly up to the top of the boot into water and mud with no leakage. Admittedly I got a bit over-zealous causing some water to get in over the top but even so I found after 10 mins that my feet were dry and comfortable and not soggy inside the boot for the rest of the walk as I have found with other boots. Clearly a lot of thought and care has gone into these boots – I salute you!

I am loving the tundra, they felt so good right out of the box, they are so lightweight and slipped on like a glove. I wanted a tough waterproof barefoot boot that I could wear year round as I work in gardening and estate management on a farm. It has revolutionised my work life, it feels like gardening in slippers, I have even worn them without socks a few times and the lining is so soft it is 100% comfortable. Even with some decent tread on them you still get enough ground feel. I have to admit as I’m new to wearing barefoots at work all day I have bought and inserted the freet 6mm insole to ease myself in and mitigate shock impact but this does not seem to have compromised the fit much, still plenty of toe wriggle room. Oh and the waterproofing is excellent. Preferred them to the mudee. Just a shame there aren’t more colour options than black.

Thanks for the feedback Rob – really useful especially as I confirm the Range for next winter. In a fit of crazy abandon we’ve put a second colour in the range for then. A natty mid-dark Brown! All the best, Andrew
