You will need to go one size larger than your ‘normal’ EU shoe size. If you prefer a ‘roomy’ fit, then go two sizes larger.
The length and width of the insole of this shoe is as below. Remember the shoe has good volume in the forefoot so the actual comfortable width of this shoe will be a few mm greater than this ‘flat’ measurement. Fit is personal, but most people will prefer to have at least 4 or 5mm spare room in front of your largest toe(s). USA sizing is below the European:
Europe/Rest of World Sizing (metric mms):
Size 36/222mm length, 89mm width, Size 37/228mm length, 91mm width, Size 38/234mm length, 93mm width, Size 39/243mm length, 95mm width, Size 40/247mm length, 97mm width, Size 41/253mm length, 99mm width, Size 42/260mm length, 100mm width, Size 43/266mm length, 101mm width, Size 44/272mm length, 102mm width, Size 45/276mm length, 103mm width, Size 46/284mm length, 105mm width, Size 47/290mm length, 107mm width, Size 48/296mm length, 109mm width, Size 49/305mm length, 111mm

The Respond is the first pair of Freet Shoes I purchased and I now own three different Freet models. In short well worth the money.
Good points:
The price is less than most true barefoot shoe companies. I own two other brands, one marginally more expensive and the other costs nearly double.
The Respond is the most comfortable model shoe I own, it is light and the Poron innersole excellent at absorbing impacts on sharp rocks.
Outdoors they are amazing I hardly ever have to think about my feet slipping on different surfaces. I wear them running, hiking on moorlands and coastal paths and around town. Only on the wettest smoothest rocks do they sometimes slide (although few shoes would do better).
They allow your feet to breathe in hot weather. They let water through the uppers readily so If you don’t like wet feet in the colder months it is worth getting waterproof socks.
Aesthetics will vary for everyone, I didn’t like them at first but they have grown on me. Of all the makes I have tried they may not be most stylish but they certainly aren’t the worse!
I had to go 2 sizes bigger than I normally wear but this seems the same across the Freet range. I have a pair of Connect 2 as well, but I find my feet slide inside of them but not in the Respond. I thought this was due to the innersole but after wearing out the original Poron one I replaced it with the same innersole as the Connect 2 and still didn’t have any issues.
Bad points:
There is only one downside to these shoes and it seems common across the Freet range or at least the models I own (Respond, Connect 2 and Leap 4+1).
The grip on the sole tears. I wore the Respond indoors for martial arts and the gym and the grip tore along the ball of the foot, toe line and heal. I was gutted about this, but I liked the other aspects of the shoe, so I tried the Leap 4+1 as it had a different grip pattern, but the same thing happened. However even with some tears and bits flapping off the Respond still lasted over a year of hard use. The uppers lasted a lot longer than another more expensive brand too. I have only worn the Connect 2 (which has the same sole as the Respond) “off road” and I haven’t had any issues with the sole.
Although the issue with the sole sounds pretty bad all the other positive aspects far outweigh this. I will get another pair of Responds I just won’t wear them for sport indoors!

I’m a climber and mountaineer. Ive been using these shoes since 2018 for all sorts of activity, driving, walking, jogging, happy to say I’ve also done a few easy climbs in them. Walking into mountain crags with a climbing pack on, the odd ouch as a pebble finds its way up through the poron, but generally I feel far more connected to the earth when I arrive. They are also incredibly light, really, so easy to carry up the routes for the walk down.
Like others, I’ve struggled to run any sensible distance in the past, after about 20mins my body figures out the better way of striking the floor.
The only negative, mud & leaves, you really have to control the force you apply if changing or pushing a direction change, that and manhole covers 😉
They have lasted me around 2 years, still life left in them, that’s from almost daily wear.

I am 38 and started running with Freet 2 years ago. I could never run before, with regular shoes, because my right knee would always hurt after 15 min. My husband runs the marathon (2h48), + cross country and some trail, and is friends with a physiotherapist who specializes in runners and minimalism. This friend suggested I tried minimalism and sent me a training program from “La Clinique du coureur” (Canada). I bought my first Freet shoes, and started from scratch. Of course it was frustrating to follow the (very slow) program, so I took some liberty… and injured my foot, and then my calf, a couple times and learned my lesson. The training needs to be very progressive. I can now run 45 min to an hour / 7-9 kms with Freet, no pain ! My knee was fine all along. Our 2 boys (11 and 9) wear minimalist shoes all year long. My husband is (very slowly) transitioning to minimalism, his shoes are zero drop, I’m hoping he’ll join my Freet adventure soon ! But I guess the transition is trickier for someone who runs as much as he does.
Anyways, minimalist shoes makes so much sense ! I could never have started running otherwise. And hiking is totally different too. AND the impact on overall posture is amazing. I could go on and on… THANK YOU !!

I bought a pair of Feet Respond after I decided to try barefoot shoes having developed an achilles tendon problem that wouldn’t clear up. I’m not a runner but I walk every day. Having worn very expensive orthotics for years (on the advice of the experts), I was waiting for a period of pain before I got used to this ‘new’ way of walking. It never came and I have only worn barefoot shoes, or none at all for the past 8 months. I have worn my Respond shoes everyday, come rain or shine, dry or mud and they have done me well. Obviously they get wet in the poor weather but I wore waterproof socks, these kept my feet dry, if a little cold. Now I have discovered the Mudee (wish I’d known about these earlier in the winter) they will be my winter boot. My achilles started to improve almost as soon as I went into barefoot shoes and the problem has now gone completely.
The only negative comment I can make about these shoes is that they are very slippery in wet, icy or muddy conditions. That’s all the pairs of Freets I have (5). I also find it a bit annoying that the sizing is wrong, why not change the labels?

Great shoe. I train without any problems, running, sprinting, and weightlifting including olympic lifting. It’s great to have a shoe I can feel the floor through and move really easily.
I also work in these shoes and feel them comfortable to be on my feet all day.
Really refreshing to allow my feet to move well after years of being in the traditional running trainer.

Amazing shoe, I am a long distance hiker/walker and this is my shoe for training and events. I also participate in other endurance adventures including cycle touring, thru-hikes and trail running and this shoe suits them all. before i converted to barefoot and minimalist foot lifestyle i developed plantar fasciitis but this shoe helps me carry on in my activities for hours, day after day accumulating up to 80 miles per week in training. i don’t usually get sucked into brand hyped technology used to get you to buy the latest shoe but the Poron really does work. Again great shoe and cant wait to see how it performs in this years long distance challenge events.
