I have a bunch of barefoot shoes, several of which are Freets, and these Tangas are first in my heart and, when the Pacific NW weather allows, first on my feet.
So comfortable, so cool, so barely there. True slip ons. I love the no tongue elastic lace reality. I never need socks, rarely need the insole. I feel like a high tech ninja in these shoes.
The coffee ground weave is just tight enough to keep all but the very finest beach sand out of the shoe. While at the same time, it's porous enough to allow them to dry quickly when I wear them into the water. In town, on trails, scrambling up and over rocky headlands, it doesn't matter I love these shoes. I even play golf in them for half of the year.
Like many of the European shoes I own, Freet's sizing baffles me.
I wear 9 and 1/2 US in most shoes. I have 4 pair of Freets and they are all 43's and the fits are wildly divergent. With Tanga, I ordered a 43 and a 44. I probably would have been happy with both but settled on the 43. It means they're a little snug if I wear a sock but I almost never do with these shoes.
For comparisons sake, the others are Howgill, the 43 of which is definitely bigger than the Tanga. It works, probably because I wear socks with these. I love the shoe, but I think I'd have been happier in a 42. Esk, the 43 is even bigger. I pretty much have to wear socks and I keep the insole in more than I'd like. I definitely would have been happier in a 42. And finally, Mudee L, my work boot, the 43 is perfect for my foot.
Thank you and keep up the good work!
