Sizing Small (i)

This shoe fits small: consider a larger size

The best guide for sizing your new Freet shoes is to start with your usual shoe size. Think about whether you always take this size or whether you sometimes need to go smaller or larger.

Customer feedback is that this style fits small to size; if you sometimes have to go up a size, it is more likely that you may need to go up a size with this style.

Our shoes are originally produced in EU sizes. All UK sizes are the closest conversion so, if you know your EU size, you may want to consider using this.

Measuring Your Foot

Sometimes as a second check it is worth measuring your foot. Feet can be different sizes so its worth measuring both and taking the largest.

Standing next to a wall place a piece of paper against the wall. Place your foot on the paper with your heel just touching the wall.

Measuring Your Foot
  • The next stage is easier if you get someone else to help do it.
  • Take a pencil or pen and trace the outline of the foot on the paper.
  • Start at the heel.
  • Keep the pen at 90 degrees to the paper, so vertical, see diagram.
  • Don't draw under the foot.
Keep pencil verical
Taking a ruler measure the length of the outline in millimetres. This will be the exact size of the insole you will need. To ensure the fit is not tight add another 5.0 - 10.0 mm to the length. If you wear thick socks then add that thickness to the length.
Measuring your outline

If possible, please work from the EU sizes (the US and UK sizes are nearest conversions to these sizes so will not be as accurate). The lengths and widths are the dimensions of the insole in mm measured as per the picture below:

Great, but not hard wearing.

I'm really light on shoes but only wore these shoes about 50 times before the fabric at the heel of the shoe more or less fell apart.
I'll still buy another pair though as they really are minimalist and light and therefore ideal for travel.

Comfy but fragile

I was really happy with my purchase for the first couple months. The shoes are extremely comfortable and light, which makes it great in the hot climate that I live in. I've only ever worn these in an office setting for a desk job and occasionally to take walks. However, even after what I would consider minimal/moderate wear the stitching on the shoe is starting to come undone. While the shoe is still perfectly usable it's a little concerning as to how many more months this shoe can last.

I wear them everyday

Really happy with my second pair of Talus. They fit true to size - I wear them either with thin socks or no socks. The photos don’t do them justice. They look neat and tidy ( a bit like martial arts shoes). I wear them everyday. They are very minimalist and are the closest I have found to walking or running completely barefoot.

A very comfortable shoe. I use them instead of slippers for indoor use and particularly like the way the sole give you good contact and "feel" for the floor surface. I am a size 45 in a shoe and bought a size 45 Talus 3 - I've found it to be right for me with plenty of room.
I will be back when I need a pair of outdooe shoes!

Hey. I'm about to return these, but not because they're bad. Am leaving a review as my experience might be useful for others.

First of all, sizing: I have a pair of Connect 2s, which I wear with the insoles in, in size 43, and that's right for me and and very comfortable. These, however, in 43, with or without insoles, are too big & lots of space beyond the big toe and also really too roomy around the ankle and heel, especially given that they're slip-ons. It's hard to imagine that even if I came down a size, they'd grip the heel and ankle enough. Meanwhile, my toes splay wide, so I'd be loathe to go smaller in these anyway & even with the fairly stretchy upper.

Also, I wear the insoles in my Connect 2s because without them, my toes sit below the lip of the sole and it's too restrictive for my little toes. Much as I love the Connect 2s, I thought I wanted the option of a much thinner sole, but now I've tried it, even just in the house, I'm not sure I do. Maybe something to work towards, but I'm not there yet.

I also think I prefer the Connect 2s' Ortholite insole to the Flexile insole that comes with these. There's something almost magically comfortable about the Ortholites. If I was going to keep these, I'd probably get a pair of them to replace the Flexiles.

I'm making the return with some regret as I really like the way these look, but it seems clear that practically they're not going to work for me.
