Danum

I have a backpacking trip planned through the Gila Wilderness in October. There are 60 plus river crossings. I need a quick drying, zero drop, high top. I’ve been testing everyday in the Guadalupe River. They are working great!

This is my second pair of shoes from Freet. I wore a a pair of Vibe for the last two years (and still wear them) so I was already familiar with the brand.

I am very happy with the Danum overall. They’re lightweight, breathable, comfortable, and provide plenty of room for the toes. I also like the simple, modern design; and the lacing system that goes through the Bottle Yarn fabric is really brilliant.

The sole is grippy but thin enough to give a good feel for the ground, while still offering enough protection to make walking on stones and gravel comfortable.

I also appreciate the slightly higher collar around the ankle. The fabric fits almost like a sock, which makes the shoes feel secure and comfortable.

I usually wear 43.5 (27.6 cm) and i like to have some room, I ordered the size 44 and it fits perfectly as it give me the room i need without being too big.

I had initially a minor issue with the stitching inside the upper, which caused some discomfort and a few blisters. However, after I contacted Freet, their customer service responded immediately and sent me a replacement pair. The new pair is perfect, and I really appreciated how quickly and professionally they handled the problem.

Overall, I’m very pleased with the shoes and with Freet’s customer service.

These are as comfortable as other freet shoes that I've tried (which is, for me, *very*). The fabric outer feels tough and the stitched sole feels reassuringly strong. The rubber toe bumper is a sensible addition which hopefully I won't damage them as much as I would otherwise. Overall these feel much more robust than my old feldoms.

The main selling point of these, for me, was the breathability and they haven't disappointed. At the end of a hot day I take them off and there's no sense of relief - my feet are already fresh. I've even felt a breeze through them.

The lace loops are unusual - the laces just loop through holes in the knitted shoe fabric - time will tell whether these last.

Sadly, as soon as I tried on the Danum it was clear they are not suitable for my feet as they are too tight to give room for my bunions. I will have to research if there are similar shoes that might work.
