Sizing True (ii)

This shoe fits true to size

The best guide for sizing your new Freet shoes is to start with your usual shoe size. Think about whether you always take this size or whether you sometimes need to go smaller or larger.

Customer feedback is that this style fits true to size; so order your normal size.

Our shoes are originally produced in EU sizes. All UK sizes are the closest conversion so, if you know your EU size, you may want to consider using this.

It is vital that you allow at least 5mm extra at the front of the shoe. For example; your foot is 248mm long. You will likely need size EU40 to allow enough free space at the end of your shoe.

The lengths shown are the Insole lengths (the actual shoe length will be 2 or 3 mm longer).

Measuring Your Foot

Sometimes as a second check it is worth measuring your foot. Feet can be different sizes so its worth measuring both and taking the largest.

Standing next to a wall place a piece of paper against the wall. Place your foot on the paper with your heel just touching the wall.

Measuring Your Foot
  • The next stage is easier if you get someone else to help do it.
  • Take a pencil or pen and trace the outline of the foot on the paper.
  • Start at the heel.
  • Keep the pen at 90 degrees to the paper, so vertical, see diagram.
  • Don't draw under the foot.
Keep pencil verical
Taking a ruler measure the length of the outline in millimetres. This will be the exact size of the insole you will need. To ensure the fit is not tight add another 5.0 - 10.0 mm to the length. If you wear thick socks then add that thickness to the length.

Measuring your outline

If possible, please work from the EU sizes (the US and UK sizes are nearest conversions to these sizes so will not be as accurate). The lengths and widths are the dimensions of the insole in mm measured as per the picture below:

Oops

My review was for the black Flex 1 which i hope they will keep as i really don't like the look of the 2 especially with that white sole yuk.

Grip

Almost ebayed them at one point as they seemed a bit, you know, barefoot (minimal, maybe a bit floppy) but glad i gave them a second chance. Have been wearing over a year now, Trail runs on the moors and 3 weeks in Spain running hard limestone trails (not every day) and just generally kicking about. I always put cord grips on my laces and cut off the excess so these can be quick on&off and left loose around camp or snugged up for action. So refreshing to see a barefoot shoe that is actually not structured in any way, they are like old school pimmies with more room and better grip. The grip is the best I've found on any bf shoes (and I've had over 10 pairs of various brands) the black compound is very confidence inspiring and the ground feel gives you the feedback you need and the sole had the flexibility to allow your feet to do the work of gripping the terrain (instead of you giving up and trusting the lugs). So I've abused them in mud and rocky mountainous terrain for well over a year (maybe 2, can't remember) and the only degradation is my toenails have worn the inside fabric a little bit). I've never had a more durable shoe, which is ridiculous considering what they're made of but the build quality and materials used are totally up to the job which is uncommon in this market sector. Btw if you're considering boots i am even more positive about the Esk: )

Come up short and laces too long

I bought these to wear for work (on feet in healthcare). Initially really liked them, but realised after a day of wearing them outdoors (so couldn’t return them) that my toes constantly hit the end of the shoe. I’m always a size 41, but these came up a bit short and I couldn’t tighten the laces enough to stop my feet slipping forward. Next size up would have been too big unfortunately. The laces are also far too long. I ended up buying a pair of black Freet feldoms that were on sale in size 41 and they are perfect. Wish I hadn’t worn these outdoors so I could return them!
