These are warm and have a great width. The laces and speed hooks work well - they seem very secure. I've been out a couple of times in inclement weather and they've kept me warm and dry (although I've not been out in cold weather yet).
I tried these on at the same time as a pair of Muddy 2s in the same size - these were slightly smaller. As well as the length there was more space above the toes in the Muddy 2s, but there are fleece lined.
The fleece lining continued under the insoles, which is a bit of a treat for those who do without (not me).
My only other minimalist shoe before this was the Feldom, which is much lighter. I was dissapointed at the rigidity of the Arken 2s in comparison. I don't know if this is simply due to a stiffer upper (which can't be helped) or because the Arken 2 has the midflex midsole compared to the Feldom's softflex. I would have opted for a more flexible sole with better ground feel.
I can't yet comment on durability - I'm keeping my eyes on the fabric lace hoops and the sole - my Feldom's soles (also hillgrip) are wearing down quite quickly.
