Sizing True (i)

This shoe fits true to size

The best guide for sizing your new Freet shoes is to start with your usual shoe size. Think about whether you always take this size or whether you sometimes need to go smaller or larger.

Customer feedback is that this style fits true to size; so order your normal size.

Our shoes are originally produced in EU sizes. All UK sizes are the closest conversion so, if you know your EU size, you may want to consider using this.

Measuring Your Foot

Sometimes as a second check it is worth measuring your foot. Feet can be different sizes so its worth measuring both and taking the largest.

Standing next to a wall place a piece of paper against the wall. Place your foot on the paper with your heel just touching the wall.

Measuring Your Foot
  • The next stage is easier if you get someone else to help do it.
  • Take a pencil or pen and trace the outline of the foot on the paper.
  • Start at the heel.
  • Keep the pen at 90 degrees to the paper, so vertical, see diagram.
  • Don't draw under the foot.
Keep pencil verical
Taking a ruler measure the length of the outline in millimetres. This will be the exact size of the insole you will need. To ensure the fit is not tight add another 5.0 - 10.0 mm to the length. If you wear thick socks then add that thickness to the length.
Measuring your outline

If possible, please work from the EU sizes (the US and UK sizes are nearest conversions to these sizes so will not be as accurate). The lengths and widths are the dimensions of the insole in mm measured as per the picture below:

Great waterproof walking boot

I like these for not being leather because they are easily wiped clean and have been thoroughly waterproof so far in the very recent very wet weather, admittedly on roads only, up to now.

Great, best barefoots I have owned for winter time conditions so far.

Fantastic, so comfortable!

Absolutely love these & highly recommend.
Already a fan of Freet & enjoy walking in the Feldoms, these are like a Winter boot version, perfect for muddy dog walks.

Mudee 2: Fantastic Boots

I have very low volume feet and ankles. I have quite square ended feet with toes of similar length with the end of my feet the widest part. The freet toe box design works well for me. However, I have struggled to find freet designs to fit my low volume feet. I could not fasten the Mudee version 1 to my feet.

The Mudee 2 is a fantastic shoe. Thanks to the new fit, I can fasten them to my feet. They are very weatherproof, although not breathable. I am very pleased the low ankle cut has been retained; this works well for me. I could not walk in the Tundra design as the high collar dug into my ligaments with every step.

I appreciate the added comfort underfoot, particularly when carrying a heavy load, traversing rocky terrain, or many hours on pavement.
The outsole design also offers far more grip in muddy conditions.

Thank you freet team for some excellent walking boots and great customer service.
Are there any other of your designs that may suit my low volume feet?

Not the same as the original

Unfortunately the Mudee 2 is nowhere near as good as the original when it comes to ground feel and flexibility. Although the stack height is supposedly the same, there appears to be a *lot* more cushion than the original. I thought my Feelground sneakers were fairly cushioned compared to some of my other barefoot shoes, but these are worse and I don't really feel the ground at all. They are also quite stiff and I have waited a while to see if they break in. There is an awkward line just beyond the laces that folds uncomfortably whilst walking that digs into the top of the foot. They may well be hardier and more waterproof, but I feel the primary criteria to judge a barefoot shoe should be its barefoot properties. That said, I don't know if there is anything better on the market currently for boots, other than the original Mudee.
