Sizing True (ii)

This shoe fits true to size

The best guide for sizing your new Freet shoes is to start with your usual shoe size. Think about whether you always take this size or whether you sometimes need to go smaller or larger.

Customer feedback is that this style fits true to size; so order your normal size.

Our shoes are originally produced in EU sizes. All UK sizes are the closest conversion so, if you know your EU size, you may want to consider using this.

It is vital that you allow at least 5mm extra at the front of the shoe. For example; your foot is 248mm long. You will likely need size EU40 to allow enough free space at the end of your shoe.

Measuring Your Foot

Sometimes as a second check it is worth measuring your foot. Feet can be different sizes so its worth measuring both and taking the largest.

Standing next to a wall place a piece of paper against the wall. Place your foot on the paper with your heel just touching the wall.

Measuring Your Foot
  • The next stage is easier if you get someone else to help do it.
  • Take a pencil or pen and trace the outline of the foot on the paper.
  • Start at the heel.
  • Keep the pen at 90 degrees to the paper, so vertical, see diagram.
  • Don't draw under the foot.
Keep pencil verical
Taking a ruler measure the length of the outline in millimetres. This will be the exact size of the insole you will need. To ensure the fit is not tight add another 5.0 - 10.0 mm to the length. If you wear thick socks then add that thickness to the length.

Measuring your outline

If possible, please work from the EU sizes (the US and UK sizes are nearest conversions to these sizes so will not be as accurate). The lengths and widths are the dimensions of the insole in mm measured as per the picture below:

Perfect (after a small modification)

The Zennor 2 is much improved over the originals (which I sent right back after trying them on last year). This version is lighter and more flexible and have become my go-to summer footwear chaice for walking and cycling. When it's a little cool out, I wear some low cut black socks and they look like regular shoes.

My husband and I each got a pair of Zennor 2 sandals for a trip to the Galapagos Islands and they were great for getting out of the inflatable boats into the water and then walking around the islands. However, as others mentioned, they were a bit slippery on smooth wet surfaces. I broke mine in for a week before the trip, initially getting a blister, but that was solved with a minor modification. Read on if you find the sandals a bit narrow or you stuggle with bunions.

The mesh part of the shoe has a bit of stretch, but the straps sewn onto the mesh to hold the laces do not stretch. Using a seam ripper, I unpicked the stitching along the sides of the strap where my bunion is (see dotted line in photo) leaving the strap attached only to the sole of the shoe. Then I put a square knot after the second set of lace loops from the top, leaving a lot of slack in the lacing over the toe area. Tightening up the shoes now only pulls the laces tight around the ankle opening, and leaves the toebox nice and roomy. Coincidentally, my husband has the same issue and we did the same modification on his sandal. Both of us are very satisfied.

Freet remains my favourite brand of barefoot shoes and I have 4 pair (so far!). The quality, value for money and durability is unmatched. I'm hoping to see these sandals in red next year!

Brilliant hiking sandals

Walked the Camino Portuguese with a friend, both of us with these sandals. 250km of super comfortable hiking and no blisters!
Highly recommended
However, I signed up but never received my 10% discount code. Here's hoping!

Bloody Brilliant

To be fair, this is a first glance review of sandals I only got a couple of weeks ago

BUT

So far they are bloody brilliant in terms of fit, form and functionality.

I’m a UK 10-10.5 usually. These are EU45 and are perfect!

Comfortable and aesthetic

Comfortable and aesthetic

The strap sticks out a bit much for me and I wouldn't want a smaller shoe but still good.
