Sizing True (ii)

This shoe fits true to size

The best guide for sizing your new Freet shoes is to start with your usual shoe size. Think about whether you always take this size or whether you sometimes need to go smaller or larger.

Customer feedback is that this style fits true to size; so order your normal size.

Our shoes are originally produced in EU sizes. All UK sizes are the closest conversion so, if you know your EU size, you may want to consider using this.

It is vital that you allow at least 5mm extra at the front of the shoe. For example; your foot is 248mm long. You will likely need size EU40 to allow enough free space at the end of your shoe.

The lengths shown are the Insole lengths (the actual shoe length will be 2 or 3 mm longer).

Measuring Your Foot

Sometimes as a second check it is worth measuring your foot. Feet can be different sizes so its worth measuring both and taking the largest.

Standing next to a wall place a piece of paper against the wall. Place your foot on the paper with your heel just touching the wall.

Measuring Your Foot
  • The next stage is easier if you get someone else to help do it.
  • Take a pencil or pen and trace the outline of the foot on the paper.
  • Start at the heel.
  • Keep the pen at 90 degrees to the paper, so vertical, see diagram.
  • Don't draw under the foot.
Keep pencil verical
Taking a ruler measure the length of the outline in millimetres. This will be the exact size of the insole you will need. To ensure the fit is not tight add another 5.0 - 10.0 mm to the length. If you wear thick socks then add that thickness to the length.

Measuring your outline

If possible, please work from the EU sizes (the US and UK sizes are nearest conversions to these sizes so will not be as accurate). The lengths and widths are the dimensions of the insole in mm measured as per the picture below:

What a great pair of boots

Well I’ve got to say what a great pair of boots these are. I’ve had them for a month now I’ve had a good time trying them out. Really comfortable great grip and certainly are waterproof. Just went up Snowdon in them even in the snow I was surprised at how much grip I still had and my feet was lovely and warm. Only thing I found was the left insole did move a little bit. Definitely a boot that I’d recommend. Thanks Freet for making such a good boot. Best hiking boot I’ve had.

Beautifully comfortable

Beautifully comfortable - soft, quality leather and I like that the soles are a little more substantial than on some barefoot shoes, without compromising ground feel. And soooo happy to find a UK company in this marketplace, selling in Europe, with the high quality and great service one would expect.

Great Lightweight ALl-Season Boot

Having owned many pairs of Freet footwear I now needed something to replace my heavy all season boots. The Chamois looked just the bill, and are half the weight of my previous boots! They have had three outings on a very wet Dartmoor in the first week, sometimes walking through ankle dee[p water, and so far not a drop has got through. They are extremely comfortable and give a good compromise between barefoot and sturdier boots for winter walking. I bought my size which seem just about right for me.

Really pleased

I have horses and was looking for something barefoot and more waterproof than previous boots tried. I bought mine six months ago and have probably cleaned and waxed them just 3 times. They live in a constant state of being clad in dried mud. They've seen, ankle deep mud, horse poo and been used everyday through a very wet winter. They've been my everyday boot and weekend walking boot. I can't fault them. And when cleaned up and waxed they don't have a scratch on them and become my 'best' boot to wear out. They've blown away the very expensive boots, from a leading brand, I had previously, that split, leaked and had very little grip. I'm so impressed that I'm recommending to all my barefoot horsey friends. I'm now wondering if your trail running shoes perform as well.

I really like them

I really like them. Very comfortable and good feel with the ground. Seem to be very waterproof. I notice some of freet shoes have stitched soles whilst these don’t despite them being for robust use. I hope they stay on ok.
