Sizing True (ii)

This shoe fits true to size

The best guide for sizing your new Freet shoes is to start with your usual shoe size. Think about whether you always take this size or whether you sometimes need to go smaller or larger.

Customer feedback is that this style fits true to size; so order your normal size.

Our shoes are originally produced in EU sizes. All UK sizes are the closest conversion so, if you know your EU size, you may want to consider using this.

It is vital that you allow at least 5mm extra at the front of the shoe. For example; your foot is 248mm long. You will likely need size EU40 to allow enough free space at the end of your shoe.

The lengths shown are the Insole lengths (the actual shoe length will be 2 or 3 mm longer).

Measuring Your Foot

Sometimes as a second check it is worth measuring your foot. Feet can be different sizes so its worth measuring both and taking the largest.

Standing next to a wall place a piece of paper against the wall. Place your foot on the paper with your heel just touching the wall.

Measuring Your Foot
  • The next stage is easier if you get someone else to help do it.
  • Take a pencil or pen and trace the outline of the foot on the paper.
  • Start at the heel.
  • Keep the pen at 90 degrees to the paper, so vertical, see diagram.
  • Don't draw under the foot.
Keep pencil verical
Taking a ruler measure the length of the outline in millimetres. This will be the exact size of the insole you will need. To ensure the fit is not tight add another 5.0 - 10.0 mm to the length. If you wear thick socks then add that thickness to the length.

Measuring your outline

If possible, please work from the EU sizes (the US and UK sizes are nearest conversions to these sizes so will not be as accurate). The lengths and widths are the dimensions of the insole in mm measured as per the picture below:

I love my Esks! Protective, weather resistant and super comfy

I love my Esks!
This is my third pair of Freet shoes and they just keep getting better. I had some of the original Mudee’s which were and are great (I had two major issues with those though, the first was that the soul tread was so thin that I wore it through in one 12 hour walk, fortunately my local cobbler is very capable and I’ve had them resoled with a much thicker grip pattern, the other issue was that they were also only waterproof for that one walk, I’m not a fan of leather boots with waterproof lining, just keep them well oiled and waxed!). I use the Esk boots as work boots, i’m a lime plasterer, spend lots of time up and down ladders, but have no tolerance for regular workboots.
Because of the nice thick leather, I think the Esks will last me over a year, at which point I’ll probably have them resoled, that’s how long my tread tends to last. They have loads of grip, and I’ve got the rock plate inside them, so there’s plenty of stiffness to allow me to stand on a ladder for long period periods. If you pardon the pun, they tread the line between protective and supportive, and flexible and spacious. I can see these being my work b
oots for years to come.

Excellent shoes

Excellent shoes, extremely comfortable, with especially soft leather. More water-resistant than Esk1, they have replaced my trail walking shoes, and my office shoes, and I've worn them in slightly more demanding hikes, and although they're not meant for this, they were just fine. They're comfortable and soft enough to replace my slippers, too.
The shoelaces are better from the ones on Esk1 for some strange reason. In Esk1 I'd always have to redo them; with Esk2 they seem to stay tied no matter what.

wonderful service from Freet

wonderful service from Freet I had bought a pair not too long ago and quickly became my favourite walking shoes whenever I had the chance to go out as I wear specific work shoes on most days however my shoes developed a slight issue rather quick and when I asked Freet for advice on how to repair they responded very kindly with a new improved pair. so all I can say is that Freet and it's wonderful people make it a top brand in my book😉👍
