I love my Esks!
This is my third pair of Freet shoes and they just keep getting better. I had some of the original Mudee’s which were and are great (I had two major issues with those though, the first was that the soul tread was so thin that I wore it through in one 12 hour walk, fortunately my local cobbler is very capable and I’ve had them resoled with a much thicker grip pattern, the other issue was that they were also only waterproof for that one walk, I’m not a fan of leather boots with waterproof lining, just keep them well oiled and waxed!). I use the Esk boots as work boots, i’m a lime plasterer, spend lots of time up and down ladders, but have no tolerance for regular workboots.
Because of the nice thick leather, I think the Esks will last me over a year, at which point I’ll probably have them resoled, that’s how long my tread tends to last. They have loads of grip, and I’ve got the rock plate inside them, so there’s plenty of stiffness to allow me to stand on a ladder for long period periods. If you pardon the pun, they tread the line between protective and supportive, and flexible and spacious. I can see these being my work b
oots for years to come.
