Sizing True (ii)

This shoe fits true to size

The best guide for sizing your new Freet shoes is to start with your usual shoe size. Think about whether you always take this size or whether you sometimes need to go smaller or larger.

Customer feedback is that this style fits true to size; so order your normal size.

Our shoes are originally produced in EU sizes. All UK sizes are the closest conversion so, if you know your EU size, you may want to consider using this.

Measuring Your Foot

Sometimes as a second check it is worth measuring your foot. Feet can be different sizes so its worth measuring both and taking the largest.

Standing next to a wall place a piece of paper against the wall. Place your foot on the paper with your heel just touching the wall.

Measuring Your Foot
  • The next stage is easier if you get someone else to help do it.
  • Take a pencil or pen and trace the outline of the foot on the paper.
  • Start at the heel.
  • Keep the pen at 90 degrees to the paper, so vertical, see diagram.
  • Don't draw under the foot.
Keep pencil verical
Taking a ruler measure the length of the outline in millimetres. This will be the exact size of the insole you will need. To ensure the fit is not tight add another 5.0 - 10.0 mm to the length. If you wear thick socks then add that thickness to the length.

Measuring your outline

If possible, please work from the EU sizes (the US and UK sizes are nearest conversions to these sizes so will not be as accurate). The lengths and widths are the dimensions of the insole in mm measured as per the picture below:

Good all rounder

Very comfortable shoe, equally at home walking the streets or running on trails. The deep lugs provide a little more comfort on rough trails and good grip in the mud. Nice roomy toebox and they remain comfortable if you're on your feet all day. Look good too. Happy with this purchase.

Love these

These fitted great and felt comfortable out of the box walking round the house. After a 10km test run the following day I was confident enough to run a trail marathon in them the following weekend.

The terrain covered wet tarmac, long grass, wood chipped path, dry singletrack and thick muddy boggy sections, the shoes were secure and grippy on all surfaces.

It wasn’t until near the end or that run that my friend asked how my shoes were doing that I actually thought about them, which to me is the ultimate compliment to how they performed.

Good option for Trail

I've been running with the Freet Feldom 2 for approximately 200 km.
The size is perfect for me - I wear a size 48 (with the previous model, the Feldom 1, the same size 48 was too small for me, as my toes would touch the front of the shoe). So I could say that this model is true to size.
The shape of the foot is perfect for me, with enough room in the forefoot. They fit my feet very well.
One weak point for me is the lacing system, with flat laces. I prefer the cylindrical lacing system of the Flex, Connect 3, or Pace models, using circular eyelets or lug nuts.
On the other hand, I've slipped several times on wet rock. But this terrain isn't my usual terrain. I usually run in them through forests or on small hills, and I find them very well suited for that terrain. The sole with the lugs has enough height so that the stones on the ground are not felt too much (but enough - good balance for me for this kind of terrain).
Additional note - I have tried several Freet shoes: Flex, York, Richmon, Pace, Connect 3, Boote and Keld. I posted opinions about some of them that you can check too.

Better than I expected, starting to reall love them.

I have worn Freets for several years, my all time favourites are my original Connects, from maybe 6 years ago. I barely know they are on. I ordered the Feldom 2's, as the original Connects are no longer available. The Feldom 2's have a thicker grippier sole. The toe cap is more shaped and stiffer than my old Connects. I didnt like that at first. However now that I have worn them several times and all day long, they are really growing on me. They are very comfortable to wear, look good, are fresh feeling on the feet due to the mesh used. I work in a bushcamp in a woodland part of the year, and in the very warm weather I previously loved wearing my Connects in the wood, as they connected me so much to the woodland floor. I have also worn my well worn Connects to the gym. The Feldoms as I say, are slightly thicker soled, however it still feels like a good connection to the ground. If I could have bought the old school Connects for the wood again I would have, however I can see and feel that the Feldoms are good for so many situatiuons. They look great as a casual trainor in the lovely green shades. If they did more colourways (hint, hint) I would buy at least one more pair for casual wear and another pair for the gym.

Sizing wise with the Feldom 2's they are good to go to your original shoe size. Not a size up as some suggest. The only thing I would definately change is the laces, I would like elastic laces like my old Connects.
