I am rapidly becoming a Freet Fangirl! There's not much I don't love about these shoes. They are very comfortable, I did about 6 miles straight out of the box. Nice and cool, light and airy, you can even feel the breeze through them. The colour is lovely and they come with extra laces which are the colour of the shoes. They are quite stylish and, I think, you can use them as smart/casual as well as for yomping about in the countryside. They are excellent slips ons for whizzing the dogs out for a couple of hours.
In the box, there were some strange extra insoles with round holes in, I can only assume that they are supposed to keep you cool. I did try them but they were very uncomfortable, I could feel the holes on the soles of my feet. Perhaps they would be OK if I wore socks but I don't like socks. The soles of the shoes are good and grippy on tracks, pavements and fields. They are a bit slippy in the wet but they are not shoes for a rainy day so this is only a problem if you get caught out.
If I am to be picky, I have a bit of problem with the tongue. It is attached at one side but the other (unattached) side gets a bit rolled under sometimes if you 'slip on' the shoes, rather than untie them. However, this could be because I have to pull the laces very tight. Freet shoes have too much volume for me but I overcome it with ortholite insoles and tightening the laces, I suspect, if you had the laces less tightly drawn then the 'rolling tongue' would not be a problem. Personally, I think they would be better with the tongue attached at both sides, like the Howgills.
I've bought these for a camino later in the year, along with some Howgills in case it's a bit damp on some days. I think I might have worn both pairs out before I go!
