Sizing Large (ii)

This shoe fits large: consider a smaller size

The best guide for sizing your new Freet shoes is to start with your usual shoe size. Think about whether you always take this size or whether you sometimes need to go smaller or larger.

Customer feedback is that this style fits large to size; if you sometimes have to go down a size, it is more likely that you may need to go down a size with this style.

Our shoes are originally produced in EU sizes. All UK sizes are the closest conversion so, if you know your EU size, you may want to consider using this.

The lengths shown are the Insole lengths (the actual shoe length will be 2 or 3 mm longer).

Measuring Your Foot

Sometimes as a second check it is worth measuring your foot. Feet can be different sizes so its worth measuring both and taking the largest.

Standing next to a wall place a piece of paper against the wall. Place your foot on the paper with your heel just touching the wall.

Measuring Your Foot
  • The next stage is easier if you get someone else to help do it.
  • Take a pencil or pen and trace the outline of the foot on the paper.
  • Start at the heel.
  • Keep the pen at 90 degrees to the paper, so vertical, see diagram.
  • Don't draw under the foot.
Keep pencil verical
Taking a ruler measure the length of the outline in millimetres. This will be the exact size of the insole you will need. To ensure the fit is not tight add another 5.0 - 10.0 mm to the length. If you wear thick socks then add that thickness to the length.

Measuring your outline

If possible, please work from the EU sizes (the US and UK sizes are nearest conversions to these sizes so will not be as accurate). The lengths and widths are the dimensions of the insole in mm measured as per the picture below:

Love them! Light and comfortable - they feel like slippers!

Love them! I was a little nervous about a) the sizing (usual size, or size up?) and b) the ankle height (will they rub and be uncomfortable?). So, in the end I took a punt and went with my regular EU41 size, checking the size chart of course, and they are good for me. I probably could have gone bigger, but these still work with or without socks, with plenty of toe splay room. They stay on nicely. I do have quite a high instep on one of my feet and these did feel a little tight to start with as they come quite far up the top of the foot. However, they are fitting better after lots of use now. With regards to the ankle height - yes, they do come up quite high. I think this is because they can be for ladies or gents. The first few times I wore with socks just in case they rubbed and I didn't notice anything. So then I wore them without and the first time I thought maybe they were rubbing, but actually I haven't any blisters or rub marks so they appear to be fine; and I do have chunky low ankles. The material is quite soft, so that does help. I would've liked these in black (I'm a black shoe kind of gal!), but the blue is lovely and deep. The only thing is, with the nature of the material, they do sort of look creased on the top with use. However, doesn't bother me. On the whole, delighted with them - wanted a slip-on-wear-anywhere type of shoe, and this is it for me... though I haven't worn them in the rain, so not sure how they will get on if I get caught out in a shower!

Nice but I got blisters on my heels

The shoes initially felt very comfortable. But after using them for several walks I got blisters on my heels. The back is just too hard and too high for me. I still hope this improves after a while.
Maybe it is the size. I have size 41 for feet 25,8 cm long.
But these ar said to fall large, and the Freet Ibex are said to fall small. And they fit well, also in 41.
But still very nice to wear indoors and for short walks outside

Great shoe/slipper

Great shoe/slipper, and perfect for mooching around the house.

They could be confortable if they were lower

They could be confortable if they were lower. They're hurting the ankle bone. Their look is suitable for home. in fact they look a little little Donald Duck's shoes as they make a very wide feet. I'll have to cut them low to use them. Otherwise, they are hot and the feet have a lot of place.

Heels cut too high; painful to wear

I wore my new shoes around the house for a few hours and they were comfy; then wore them once outdoors for a couple of hours without socks. Now can’t wear them at all because the back of the right hand shoe is rubbing a lot and is really irritating my heel. Not sure what I can do. Any suggestions welcome.
