Sizing True (ii)

This shoe fits true to size

The best guide for sizing your new Freet shoes is to start with your usual shoe size. Think about whether you always take this size or whether you sometimes need to go smaller or larger.

Customer feedback is that this style fits true to size; so order your normal size.

Our shoes are originally produced in EU sizes. All UK sizes are the closest conversion so, if you know your EU size, you may want to consider using this.

Measuring Your Foot

Sometimes as a second check it is worth measuring your foot. Feet can be different sizes so its worth measuring both and taking the largest.

Standing next to a wall place a piece of paper against the wall. Place your foot on the paper with your heel just touching the wall.

Measuring Your Foot
  • The next stage is easier if you get someone else to help do it.
  • Take a pencil or pen and trace the outline of the foot on the paper.
  • Start at the heel.
  • Keep the pen at 90 degrees to the paper, so vertical, see diagram.
  • Don't draw under the foot.
Keep pencil verical
Taking a ruler measure the length of the outline in millimetres. This will be the exact size of the insole you will need. To ensure the fit is not tight add another 5.0 - 10.0 mm to the length. If you wear thick socks then add that thickness to the length.
Measuring your outline

If possible, please work from the EU sizes (the US and UK sizes are nearest conversions to these sizes so will not be as accurate). The lengths and widths are the dimensions of the insole in mm measured as per the picture below:

Bluey skeeby

Top quality freets as usual but they look like ‘normal trainers’. I Do like the breathability and fab to have a light colour , will shine in the summer but wearing them now indoors and the extra bounce really suits my walking style. V tempted to another….purple?

Very little lateral stability; not suitable as gym shoe

I tried the Skeeby first in a 41, but I ended up sliding around too much and ended up with a size 40. It's hard to get a good fit as the ankle is so stretchy. You have to really tighten the laces so that the shoe doesn't move around even in the right size. I'd imagine the Keld and Tanga have similar problems. The shoe is very wide in the toe box and combined with how stretchy the material is, I image it would fit a high volume foot quite nicely.

The Skeeby has much less horizontal stability than the Vibe. The Vibe stays put really well with the padding over the rigid plastic in the heel and ankle area. The Skeeby doesn't have this same rigidity. I was sliding around when I brought the Skeeby to my dance class, where earlier that week I was dancing fine in the Vibe two sizes too big!

The toebox is even wider than the vibe (and way wider than the tundra)! Since the foot slides around so much, I have exclusively been wearing them with toe spacers.

It does seem breathable, I wore it once out in the winter cold going to the gym and my toes were instantly so cold and felt the wind.

I haven't yet tried to see the extra grip on wet surfaces with the UrbanGrip compared to the previous sole on the Vibe or Flex as I haven't been able to wear it outside in the winter. Not sure about the ground-feel either but it seems to be a little thicker. The sole seems to be less flexible than the Vibe.

I would recommend the Vibe for more stability! Or if you want stability with lots of grip on wet surfaces in exchange a little bit less sole flexibility and a little less ground-feel get the Vibe 2.
