The best guide for sizing your new Freet shoes is to start with your usual shoe size. Think about whether you always take this size or whether you sometimes need to go smaller or larger.

Customer feedback is that this style fits large to size; if you sometimes have to go down a size, it is more likely that you may need to go down a size with this style.

Our shoes are originally produced in EU sizes. All UK sizes are the closest conversion so, if you know your EU size, you may want to consider using this.

Measuring Your Foot

Sometimes as a second check it is worth measuring your foot. Feet can be different sizes so its worth measuring both and taking the largest.

Standing next to a wall place a piece of paper against the wall. Place your foot on the paper with your heel just touching the wall.

  • The next stage is easier if you get someone else to help do it.
  • Take a pencil or pen and trace the outline of the foot on the paper.
  • Start at the heel.
  • Keep the pen at 90 degrees to the paper, so vertical, see diagram.
  • Don't draw under the foot.
Keep pencil verical
Taking a ruler measure the length of the outline in millimetres. This will be the exact size of the insole you will need. To ensure the fit is not tight add another 5.0 - 10.0 mm to the length. If you wear thick socks then add that thickness to the length.

Measuring your outline

If possible, please work from the EU sizes (the US and UK sizes are nearest conversions to these sizes so will not be as accurate). The lengths and widths are the dimensions of the insole in mm measured as per the picture below:

2 Paar gekauft, 41 & 37 fällt sehr groß aus

Ich habe hier gleich 2 Paar gekauft und hatte vorher die Rezensionen gelesen, dass diese Schuhe sehr groß ausfallen. Normalerweise habe ich Schuhgröße 38,5 hier passt Größe 37 einwandfrei. Für normale Größe 42,5 haben wir Größe 41 gewählt und auch diese passt einwandfrei.
Die Schuhe sind toll, luftig leicht und man kann gut damit Wandern. Durch den hohen Schaft kommen auch keine Steinchen in den Schuh. Super im Sommer, wenn man durch Wald, Wiesen und Feldern unterwegs ist, entweder mit Hunden oder Pferden oder auch ohne.

This is my second pair of Swale

This is my second pair of Swale, in case they stop making them, not because my first pair is wearing out! They are so cool and breathable for summer whilst keeping the sand out ~I walk my dogs across the huge sand dunes called towans here on the Cornish coast most days. I love the grippy non slip soles for walking across the rocks here too.. I already have 6 different pairs of Freet shoes /boots because they suit my feet perfectly, and are super light.

I wore a pair of these to walk land send to John O'Groats last year and they were fantastic

I wore a pair of these to walk land send to John O'Groats last year and they were fantastic. They are comfortable, grounded and most importantly for a thru hike, very quick drying. The only downside it the sole wore more rapidly that the upper which is still as new after 1100 miles with a pack. In fairness, I did quite a lot of road walking which would wear most soles. Anyway, If I were to walk the route again, I would wear these without hesitation.
