Sizing Small (i)

This shoe fits small: consider a larger size

The best guide for sizing your new Freet shoes is to start with your usual shoe size. Think about whether you always take this size or whether you sometimes need to go smaller or larger.

Customer feedback is that this style fits small to size; if you sometimes have to go up a size, it is more likely that you may need to go up a size with this style.

Our shoes are originally produced in EU sizes. All UK sizes are the closest conversion so, if you know your EU size, you may want to consider using this.

Measuring Your Foot

Sometimes as a second check it is worth measuring your foot. Feet can be different sizes so its worth measuring both and taking the largest.

Standing next to a wall place a piece of paper against the wall. Place your foot on the paper with your heel just touching the wall.

Measuring Your Foot
  • The next stage is easier if you get someone else to help do it.
  • Take a pencil or pen and trace the outline of the foot on the paper.
  • Start at the heel.
  • Keep the pen at 90 degrees to the paper, so vertical, see diagram.
  • Don't draw under the foot.
Keep pencil verical
Taking a ruler measure the length of the outline in millimetres. This will be the exact size of the insole you will need. To ensure the fit is not tight add another 5.0 - 10.0 mm to the length. If you wear thick socks then add that thickness to the length.
Measuring your outline

If possible, please work from the EU sizes (the US and UK sizes are nearest conversions to these sizes so will not be as accurate). The lengths and widths are the dimensions of the insole in mm measured as per the picture below:

Absolutely loving them

I've had these over the spring-summer and am absolutely loving them. The grip and feel of the terrain and rocks is exceptional and they feel so much more stable and grounded than "built up" boots. I'm skipping about, and I believe I'm never going to turn a heel wearing these. Unlike some reviewers, I deliberately bought a size SMALL. I will qualify that since it's probably unsuitable choice for everyone. I have size 45 and at 67Kg, have relatively slim feet. I bought 44. Barefoots are wider than many shoes, and I have found some other brands (example the big Vibr.. for example) have just far too much space, where my feet can rattle and slide about inside. (I have needed to return "Other" brands at my proper size because of this). Going a size small was slightly focusing to begin with since my toe was directly on the end, but was a perfect decision. - After a few hours, the soft leather bedded in beautifully, they are now just a perfect fit, no slop, plenty of space, and although my toe grazes the front occasionally, even on big descents (I've done a couple of Munros), - no problems whatever.

This makes my third pair of freets and it won't be my last!

I've just bought a pair of your freet impala and I have to say I love that mountain grip. I've had hard soled walking boots all my life and I have consistently slipped and twisted ankles on rocky underfoot. These have been a game changer and I feel more secure on unstable surfaces than I ever have before..... This makes my third pair of freets and it won't be my last!

We both can’t recommend them highly enough

I bought a pair of these for myself to replace my 4 year old Tundra which I loved and a pair for my ‘barefoot reluctant’ husband. We have both been very impressed with both their comfort, level of waterproofness and their incredible grip on this very wet and Mudee winter. We both can’t recommend them highly enough. Great job Freet and good value for boots of this quality. Needless to say my husband has become a barefoot convert.
