Sizing Small (i)

This shoe fits small: consider a larger size

The best guide for sizing your new Freet shoes is to start with your usual shoe size. Think about whether you always take this size or whether you sometimes need to go smaller or larger.

Customer feedback is that this style fits small to size; if you sometimes have to go up a size, it is more likely that you may need to go up a size with this style.

Our shoes are originally produced in EU sizes. All UK sizes are the closest conversion so, if you know your EU size, you may want to consider using this.

Measuring Your Foot

Sometimes as a second check it is worth measuring your foot. Feet can be different sizes so its worth measuring both and taking the largest.

Standing next to a wall place a piece of paper against the wall. Place your foot on the paper with your heel just touching the wall.

Measuring Your Foot
  • The next stage is easier if you get someone else to help do it.
  • Take a pencil or pen and trace the outline of the foot on the paper.
  • Start at the heel.
  • Keep the pen at 90 degrees to the paper, so vertical, see diagram.
  • Don't draw under the foot.
Keep pencil verical
Taking a ruler measure the length of the outline in millimetres. This will be the exact size of the insole you will need. To ensure the fit is not tight add another 5.0 - 10.0 mm to the length. If you wear thick socks then add that thickness to the length.

Measuring your outline

If possible, please work from the EU sizes (the US and UK sizes are nearest conversions to these sizes so will not be as accurate). The lengths and widths are the dimensions of the insole in mm measured as per the picture below:

Love them!

Easy to slip on. Great barefoot ground feel and perfect for running on light trail/road and walking. Not waterproof, but dry very quickly. I love these shoes!

I love these - I foget I have anything on my feet when I wear them!

I love these - I foget I have anything on my feet when I wear them! Reading the reviews, I wasn't at all sure what size to pick. I did, in the end, decide to size up one size because a) one of my feet swells and is therefore quite high volume and b) I wanted to be able to wear toe socks in them. So, could I have gone for my regular size? Yes I think I could have, and certainly the size chart would allow for my measurements (weirdly, though, Freet widths on the charts are never wide enough for my feet, but in reality on wearing them they are more than spacious!). However, I'm actually very comfortable in the bigger size. I do have around 1cm more in length at the front of my big toe, but I have a longer second toe so it works well, and I don't feel I'm going to trip with the extra space. The shape of the shoe works perfectly with my feet. I have no issues in the fit across the top of my feet, plenty of room for my swollen foot and plenty of adjustment for my regular foot. Would this have been the same in my regular sizing, I don't know as I haven't had them side by side to compare. Reasonably easy to slip in to (push your foot right in, then pull the back up is the way that works best for me... easier than five finger shoes) I love my big toe having its own space, as it helps my bunions. They do look slightly whacky - I have some 5 fingers shoes so, not as whacky as those but certainly unusual, but my small people tolerate me wearing these better (apparently toe socks and toe shoes are weird?!) Things do get stuck inbetween big toe and rest of the shoe, but it's ok. Super light. Grip is decent. Lovely barefoot feel. Dry out nice and quickly.

I like them for doing Pilates / Yoga classes in.

I like them for doing Pilates / Yoga classes in, I used to use Vibram FiveFingers but they used to take me ages to put on (hard to get my toes into each individual toe pocket) so the Freet's are a lot easier to put on. I'd recommend buying the Freet split toe socks if purchasing these shoes.

I had to get used to it at first

I had to get used to it at first, but now I wouldn't go on a hike in the forest without them!
